MONTHLY GIVEAWAY for September 2020

Remember to “LIKE” us on our website or Facebook page and you will automatically be entered in to our next free giveaway. This month it is an original watercolor pencil drawing of the The Gull Rock Light Station. It will be the first in a series called “THE LIGHTS OF THE SUPERIOR”.  It is an active lighthouse located on Gull Rock, just west of Manitou Island at the tip of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula in Lake Superior. The drawing is  based on a stock photo, courtesy of Wikipedia                                                                                                                                                                                                      220px-Gull-rock-light-station-michigan-july-2017

Every painting has a story to tell; I love to find inspiration for my art  from simple, often overlooked locations. Beauty is not just found in the grandiose but often in the common. Each of these “LIGHTS OF THE SUPERIOR” were at one time life altering for those who depended on their faithfulness. Now some have been forgotten by progress but they all deserve to be remembered.

Come by and visit us at the Lake Linden Farmers Market on Saturdays or the Copper Country Associated Artist gallery in Calumet on Wednesdays. I will post photos and share the process as the drawing progresses.

MONTHLY GIVEAWAY for August 2020

Remember to “LIKE” us on our website or Facebook page and you will automatically be entered in to our next free giveaway. This month it is an original pencil drawing of the American Bald Eagle, based on a stock photo courtesy of The National Wildlife Federation.

Every painting has a story to tell; I have decided to draw the eagle facing left and looking over his shoulder. To me it shows that American bald eagles have the unique ability to turn their heads 180 degrees in both directions, this enables them to see what is behind them from different perspectives or different points of view. “I pray that we as Americans will show that same ability.”

It is titled “AMERICAN PROUD”. I am currently working on it at the Lake Linden Farmers Market this Saturday July 25, 2020. Come on by and see our table, watch me draw or just say hello. See you there.   I will post photos as the drawing progresses.
